Carry-On

Synopsis via Letterboxd:

EVERY HOLIDAY SEASON, MILLIONS TRAVEL SAFELY BY AIR. THIS CHRISTMAS WILL BE DIFFERENT.

An airport security officer races to outsmart a mysterious traveler forcing him to let a dangerous item slip onto a Christmas Eve flight.

Another entry in my Jaume Collet-Serra marathon.

Was it perfect? No. Nothing in life really is though, right.

Was it fun? Fucking absolutely. The edge of my seat was quite thoroughly sat upon.

Bateman chewed the scenery like a gotdamned pro. Edgerton, in any film, always seems to be enjoying himself in that special way that makes me think he's just a young dude who's super thankful for his life's trajectory. This one is no different. Dean Norris is classically, just a great everyman. Danielle Deadwyler has never not been on point and perfect. Logan Marshall Green wears masks like nobody's business. I will always absolutely watch a flick with Theo Rossi in it (shouts "Shades!" in MCU).

The entire cast is great and seems to be riding that wave of professionalism that is a Collet-Serra film. This man is economical as hell and gets the job done. Everyone seems to enjoy meeting his expectations.

Bonus points for one of the best highway sequences I've seen in a long time, including a perfect use of Wham!. R.I.P George.
